the inflatable series

Vincent Leclerc, Joey Berzowska & Sara Diamond

The purpose of these garments is to induce morphological changes on the wearer's body corresponding to environmental or psychological factors.

The tunic on the left deals with the idea of reclaiming personal space. By pressing a button on the waist, the wearer can inflate prosthetic hips to push away surrounding people and objects much like an air-bag would do.

The tunic on the right explores the concept of morphological camouflage. It plays with the idea of revealing your skin through the transparent patches or distracting others attention by inflating the patches with a valve on the right shoulder to grow breasts all over the wearer's body.

The garments are made of cotton and the inflatable components are made of a translucent silicone that can theoreticaly elongate up to 1000%.
